About Our School

Established in 1995, The Assam Valley School (AVS) has emerged as one of the foremost co-educational residential schools in Northeast India. Nestled amidst the lush green tea gardens and foothills of the Eastern Himalayas in Balipara, our 150-acre campus provides an ideal environment for learning, exploration, and personal growth.

We follow the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) curriculum from Class IV to XII, emphasizing academic excellence while fostering creativity, critical thinking, and character development. Our mission is to prepare students to face the challenges of a rapidly changing world with confidence, compassion, and integrity.

The school is recognized by the Government of Assam and affiliated with CBSE, New Delhi (Affiliation No: 1230001). We maintain a student-teacher ratio of 7:1, ensuring personalized attention and mentorship for each child.

Our History

Our Journey

1995

The Assam Valley School was founded by visionary educationist Shri Tarun Chandra Das with 47 students and 8 teachers. The initial campus comprised two academic blocks and one dormitory.

2001

Received permanent affiliation from CBSE, New Delhi. Introduced the House System with four houses: Brahmaputra, Manas, Subansiri, and Dhansiri.

2008

Expanded to include Science and Computer Labs, Art & Craft Center, and Music Room. Student strength crossed 500.

2015

Celebrated 20 years of excellence. Launched the Global Exchange Program with schools in Singapore and Japan.

2023

Awarded "Best Residential School in North-East India" by Education Today magazine. Achieved 100% pass rate in CBSE Class XII with 34 students scoring above 95%.

Primary School (IV-V)

Foundational learning with focus on literacy, numeracy, environmental studies, arts, and physical education. Activity-based learning through projects, field trips, and interactive digital content.

Middle School (VI-VIII)

Admissions Process

Eligibility Criteria

Class IV: Minimum age 9 years as on 31st March of admission year
Class V-VIII: Based on previous school records and entrance test
Class IX: Entrance exam in English, Maths, Science, and interview
Class XI: Minimum 75% in Class X boards, subject-specific tests

Last date for submission: 15th December 2023
Entrance tests: 10th January 2024
Interview rounds: 20th-25th January 2024
Result declaration: 5th February 2024
